I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I think it would be cool if there was a player mode. You would create your player pre-draft, and would then enter it with whatever rating you decided. You could be drafted in the first, or the 7th. If you were to be cut or traded, then you would then switch to whatever team that would be. You would have little control except controlling either:
1)Just the player you created. This would create replayabillity, for you could go in as a receiver and another time as a lineman. You would have to know how to block, run the routes, or throw the pass. Everything else would be CPU automated. And of course there could be the idea of doing a TO and yelling at your coaches for not getting the ball :)
2) Play like normal, just you don't call the plays. That would probably be the first idea, for it requires the least programming I would believe.
You could also add in player endorsements, getting agents to sign you long term, and every other a Pro Football Player would have to go through.
