The Career Mode is addicitng but so are the Lightning Challenges. rvd2kewl 10-01-2002, 01:54 AM I was gonna get it this year because I have never bought a nascar game before. Unfortunately, I don't have much money right now so I can't get anything. :( StoneCalf 10-01-2002, 02:50 AM Finally got a smokin' finish in my "veteran" career. Finished 4th at the Daytona night race. But I'm only 36th in points in ovr standings so far. belljr 10-01-2002, 10:58 AM I actually haven't played in my Career in a week or so. I've been messing around w/ the challenges and getting used to the new wheel. One problem I have now is I've incorporated the "Sports Guy" way of playing. I have a new excercise bike right in front of the TV so I play as I pedal. I'll either have to get used to playing with a joystick or make time after the bike. I've gotten a lot of Ncaa in though. Keep it up after 2 races I'm at 34th at 35 at Daytona and 33 at NC on veteran. My new engine should be ready soon, I need to stop beating my cars up. StoneCalf 10-01-2002, 11:42 AM Yea, I just got a new engine & chassis built. Now I have four cars, and that'll be enough for a while. I was using the brand-spanking new car at Daytona and I felt much more competitive. My pit stopping is really my weakest link right now. Say I'll be running in 30th pos, and it takes my slow pit crew at least 18 seconds, and I usually lose 5-10 spots between their ineffeciency & my bad approach to pit road. But it's all good. :) Mac 10-13-2002, 07:17 PM How deep is career mode in this game? Do you still have sposors and stuff who give you objectives to meet to get paid? I really liked the last Nascar Thunder game, and the only game that came close was Nascar Racing Season 2002 because I played it online all the time. Also is there a way to race online with the PS2 version of NT2003? belljr 10-13-2002, 08:26 PM No online, but career is awesome. You pikc your sponsors then with that cash you have to hire your whole race team. After a race you get paid and then this money goes towards paying your team. Each person you hired has a rating and can improve based on performance. They have a "happiness" rating so I guess guys can leave. Now you have 3 engines 3 chassis to start and 2 cars. If you damage your car or chassis then you have to pay to repair it. You can build more engines, chassis, have your development team do studies to improve your teams car performance. All this costs money to do so the better you finish the better you team progresses. There is just a lot to manage. It reminds me a little of GT3. This sounds much better. I guess I will have to add it to my MUST BUY list. 1: Madden 2: GTA: Vice City 3: Tony Hawk 4 4: WWE Smackdown: In Your Face 5: Nascar Thunder 2003 belljr 10-13-2002, 10:34 PM I love it but I am a nascar fan. The only problem is I haven't had time to play it. The Answer 10-14-2002, 01:32 AM Yeah, I love nascar games, its so fun negotiating those left turns over and over ;) SeminoleDynasty 10-14-2002, 06:12 AM Does it have 2 player career mode? That would be really cool. belljr 10-14-2002, 10:43 AM Originally posted by The Answer@Yesterday at 11:28 pm Yeah, I love nascar games, its so fun negotiating those left turns over and over ;) I've had this argument many of time but that statement shows you have no idea about the sport. But I'm not offended I have that argument with a lot of my friends  Bucfever 10-14-2002, 07:43 PM I've played an "exhibition" race at my friend's house. This game's a lot better than Nascar 2002, and the crashes are pretty friggin' horrific. Must buy list: 1) NHL2k3 or NHL 2003 2) NBA Live 2003 or NBA2k3 3) GTA:Vice City 4)Nascar Thunder 2003 Maybe) Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 Last edited by Bucfever at Today at 5:40 pm MidwayMonster 10-14-2002, 08:42 PM I haven't played a NASCAR game in a couple of years. The Career mode is very intriguing. I may have too look into that. If anyone cares, my buy list (for PC or PS2, depending): 1) NBA Live 2003 2) NASCAR Thunder 2003 (new to list) 3) NHL 2003 4) GTA 4 SeminoleDynasty 10-14-2002, 11:21 PM Originally posted by SeminoleDynasty@Today at 1:08 am Does it have 2 player career mode? Thanks. belljr 10-15-2002, 12:00 AM Career is 1 player only but you can have 4 players in a season. It is well known here that TA hates Nascar, and I hate rap (except Eminem because I relate to him). So it is a forgone conclussion that if you start a thread about one or the other, we will be there to comment on it. BTW, I love Nascar, but Football take priority when it's season starts, so the only updates I get are from ESPN. SeminoleDynasty 10-15-2002, 12:58 AM Originally posted by belljr@Today at 6:56 pm Career is 1 player only but you can have 4 players in a season. Thanks I appreciate the answer. One other question. Not sure if anyone can answer this though as you would probably have to have both games and play it on your PS2. If you don't want to play career mode and want to play the game with another human, what would be the difference in purchasing the Playstation 1 $29.99 version instead? Minor difference in graphics? Mac 10-15-2002, 01:03 AM Minor? Between the PSX version and the PS2 game? It is like night and day. Besides, I think they never had the full 40+ drivers on the track until the game came to PS2...that makes all the difference in the world. belljr 10-15-2002, 01:06 AM I would say major diff in graphics IMO, better car physics, better damage physics. All the tracks, don't kow if PS1 has them all. More cars on the track. With multiple you have 19 cars. Also for human you can still create your own car and race and I think race multiple seasons. So you don't pick sponsors and stuff but I think you can keep track of the seasons. Plus you can do there "situations" and "challenges". You recreate the scenarios for "cards" to unlock stuff. IMO this Nascar has a lot more than any that has ever been out. SeminoleDynasty 10-15-2002, 01:12 AM Originally posted by Mac@Today at 7:59 pm Minor? Between the PSX version and the PS2 game? I mean if I purchase the 2003 Nascar Thunder PS1 version and play it on my PS2, how much different would it be than purchasing the PS2 version. Just wondering as I plan on getting the game, but I am more wanting it to enjoy playing against others and not a one person type set up. I didn't see that big a difference in graphics in Gran Turismo (a PS1 game) than Gran Turismo 3 (a PS2 game) or Smack Down (PS1) and the latest Smack Down (PS2). So one negative would be less cars on the track more than likely for the PS1 version. That is the type of stuff I am looking for in deciding my purchase. I really wanted it because of career mode, but since it is a one player deal that deminishes it for me. Thanks. The PS1 version has all 23 tracks as well. It tells that at EAsports.com. I will strictly be playing this game as a multiple player set up. Thanks for your help. Mac 10-15-2002, 01:20 AM Only PSX Nascar Thunder I could find is Nascar Thunder 2002...that was on Gamespot. Sorry, but if NT2003 is on PSX, I can't find anything to give you info on it. Sorry, but if NT2003 is on PSX, I can't find anything to give you info on it. Yep, Nascar Thunder 2003 is available for PS1. I have been looking all over the internet for info, but am coming up short on the specifics of the two versions. All I know so far is that career is not available for the PS1 version. Thanks again. msajeff 09-25-2003, 04:11 PM Bump... Just curious how many wish lists were fulfilled. I also found it interesting that the excitement level was much greater over 2003 than it seems to be now over 2004. |
