Who are the inconsistent players in the league? Players that look really good one minute, and the next are just average. I can think of a few
Shaun Alexander
Charlie Garner
Tyrone Wheatley
Kordell Stewart
... just to name a few.
So, how should madden deal with inconsistency for next year. I'm not talking hot and cold streaks, but just flat our inconsistent. (maybe hot and cold streaks could be the solution, or at least expand the idea)
Any thoughts?

They could add a consistency or streak rating, then add in those conditions that the old Tecmo games had. I'm against that preference until the passing game or DB-AI is more improved.

Hot and cold streaks would be cool but even better what if there was something like a confidence setting for each player. If there setting was low and lets say they got stopped behind the line a few times in the beggining of the game then they would be less likely to play well the rest of the game but if they got a big gain early they may have a much better game. Sometimes streaky players I think most of the problem is in there head. And someone with a higher confidence setting would be more consistant and not so lopsided.

The hot and cold streaks for Madden 2001 (PSX version) were cool. I wish they would bring them back.

I too would love the hot/cold streaks added to the game. I'm sure it can't be that difficult to add considering the PSX could handle that feature. It's probably one of those things that EA has and is just waiting for enough begging for it before they add it in. :)
