2002 Team Outlook
Indianapolis will see a major change on defense this year. Indianapolis brought in one of the top defensive head coaches in football to revamp one of worst defenses in the league last year. Look for Indianapolis to be better on defense while still having one of the top offenses in the league. Indianapolis should win the new AFC South and make the playoffs.

Indianapolis has three super stars at the skill positions. Most teams can't say that. It all begins with their star quarterback who has become one of the top players in the league and Madden 2003. He has everything you could want in a quarterback and can lead his team to the Super Bowl. The running back situation is deep with both the starting running and back up running back going over the 1,000 yard mark over the last few seasons. The top receiver is perhaps the most underrated receiver in the league. He constantly has gone over 1,000 yard receiving mark and 100 receptions a year, despite being double teamed. Indianapolis also has some depth at receiver which should take some of the pressure of their top man. The starting tight end is a great threat in the red zone. The offensive line has some talent. The center is a good pass blocker, while both guards could be upgraded. With the Colt's offense look to mix in both the pass and run. There is a lot of talent to play with and this should make for a lot of fun while playing Indianapolis on offense. You will need to score a lot of points if you hope to win any games.

The defensive will switch to a cover 2 scheme this year. The new head coach ran this defense successfully in Tampa Bay. The problem with running the cover 2 scheme will be getting any kind of pressure on the quarterback. The defensive line just doesn't have much of a pass rusher. The back up right end needs to start if you're to have any hope of a decent pass rush. Stopping the inside run will be major problem. Neither defensive tackle is really good nor has any speed. The starting linebackers are the strength of the Indianapolis defense, which isn't saying much. All three starters have good speed and should be solid in both pass coverage and stopping the run. The secondary is down right scary. You will have to play a lot of zone and stay away from blitzing. If you decide to play man coverage, you may want to double up receivers.

The special teams has very accurate kicker who continues to put up great numbers each year. The punter has good power and accuracy. The return game is also a strength and should provide the offense with good field position.
